A Bit of Seoul

Well today was a busy day and to top it off I had a head ache all day long.
I went in to complete a project at work and discovered that those who had been working on it had not done the entire thing. So I finished it up and went down to visit the horse...I wish everything made me as happy as the horse does. Work for the most part makes me quite happy....but there is this one person....

Anyway, I went to go see Suzie. She became agitated and started yelling "the momma" meaning...where was my mom. I had explained several times that Mom was at the house with a carpet installer and couldn't come over for a bit. I sat and talked to the nurse for a good bit.  I tell you folks dying slowly sucks.... I can see why Suzie wanted mom. Moms much better at all this than I am.

From there it was a quick check in on the carpet install and then errands. On the upside while I was in Office Depot I found some lamps that where perfect for the living room that where on clearance for practically nothing.

Now that we have new carpet the overwhelming smell of dust is gone....yippee....
The first lot of new furniture arrives Friday....

Fall

Well I drove to LA. We arrived just in time for Andrews Kung Fu belt test. It lasted a couple of minuets...the other students tests lasted TWO hours...yes, we sat for two hours watching people. It was hot....

Anyway after we wanted to get something to eat because several of us had not gotten dinner. On our way out of my sisters apartment, my mom fell over some un-even pavement. Hearing the clatter and my brother in law asking " are you okay?" Caused a immediate spike of anxiety to run threw me as I ran back. So mom was okay but about three minuets later I got a gushing bloody nose...from the dryness of hollywood and a blood pressure spike...so there I was standing on the streets of Hollywood trying not to get blood on my clothes.

Eventually the bleeding stopped and we headed off to the origional Bobs Big Boy...only to find out they where having a classic car event and the place was beyond packed. We ended up at IHOP.

The next day we where off to Transformers, I don't care what the critics say...I liked it.

Then a long drive back with Andrew and Mom....sigh....the last bit of time has been so busy..

We bought more furniture today..this time for the back. We are almost done redocorating the main rooms...not the whole house..just the main rooms...which is the most important part.

Talk

Well I got Suzie to talk to me a little bit yesterday. The nurses where surprised I understood her and that she spoke to me, but I've known her since I was young and I grew up talking to a man who had advanced Parkinson's which can make clear speech impossible. In short I'm good a deciphering.

I asked the nurse to tell her that we are going to be in LA for a day then we will be right back. I've told her myself but the chances of her remembering as time progresses are slim, not to mention she has no way to mark time. But the nurse is good and will tell her every so often that we will be back shortly. So she will know that we will be back.

One problem is the nurses keep putting the TV on the Spanish channel. We explained that Spanish is to similar to Italian and that they where making it harder for Suzie to think and talk. Hearing a language that is similar to but not the same as her native language is making it much harder for Suzie to think and talk as she fades away. ( her problem is strokes so brain function is effected)

anyway....   

Pick up

Well I picked up mom at the airport and took her straight back to Suzies house. Suzie becamse agitated when she heard our voices because she recognized us. Mom knew just what to say, she told Suzie she looked pretty and that her hair was looking good. Poor Suzie is so small and frail that she looks like a little bird.

She couldn't talk but she managed to yell "No" when we said we where leaving. Mom went back this morning she said she wouldn't stay long but I knew she would. She was grilling the night nurse about Suzies care last night. I know today she is gilling the day nurse and going over the care plan with a fine tune comb. Don't worry after all this time I assure you the both of us have back ground knowledge of this sort of deal.

I'm thinking of taking mom to Paris.  I don't really feel like going but losing is hard and we are losing everyone. So maybe Paris would be a pick up.

Running in place

Well Folks Suzy is dying ( as in on her deathbed) one of my uncles is dying as well.
I've been running around taking mom to the airport, visiting suzy, attempting to keep on top of things at work, I still need to drive to LA and back as well at some point. Then do a big network change Monday.

Seeing my horse is just a fantasy at this point.

I'm just a hamster on a wheel.

Paris

Well I sent  my mom off to visit her dying brother in Tennessee. Because he lives in the middle of no-where the ticket was so expensive that it would have been cheaper to go to Paris...so this is her big Paris trip. When I told her that she said," I'm going to cry" I told her she can refer to all the streets in Tennessee as rue....

I was standing on a chair cleaning yet ANOTHER chandelier ( with a toothbrush no less) contemplating the things we do for our parents. So far  I've agreed to join the DAR ( Daughters of the Revolution) and the Mayflower Society.

For those of you who don't know they are social clubs who's membership is based on having a forefather who fought in the American Revolution and as for the Mayflower...well a forefather who sailed on the Mayflower ( I guess that one is self explanatory huh?) Now genealogy isn't my thing at all. But it is my moms big hobby and I want her to get out and socialize. Since she will not leave the house without me...that means I join too....

The things you do

I had a flash back the other night to when my little sis was a toddler. she wanted to ride in one of those machines in front of the store. I put her in it and put a quarter in it....it was broken. I tried to explain but she was going to cry. So I shook it and made noises like it was working.  A father came along with a little boy who wanted to ride too...so there we where shaking the little space ship making noises so our kids would thing they where riding on a toy...the things you do.

Little sis called last night, her hubby is going off to Vegas next month and she wanted me to fly down and go to San Jaun Capastrano with her. So that sews up next month. Between work, nephew, mom, remodeling, and horse...not a spare moment.

Chandelier

Well part of last weekend was spent cleaning the walls of the old barn we call a house ( okay if you don't know me..it really is a house..it's a old big one with dark wood walls) Cleaning the walls involves spraying them with wood cleaner and since the rooms are large my brother in law did the tops and mom and I did the bottoms. So last night in occurred to me that this place might look less like the Addams family house if I cleaned the Chandeliers too...the rub being their are chandeliers in almost every room of the house.
My sisters and I hate chandeliers..we have horrible memories of cleaning the damn things. But I gave it a go because I accept that cobweb strewn crystal is not in fashion. I managed to get one half clean...I had the luxury of throwing the crystals in the dishwasher. But now the damn thing needs to be put back together...so I'm sitting and watching TV....sigh...That was only one...may more to go....

We will be getting new carpet and furniture soon....The house will always be grimly formal but it might get to the point where it doesn't give visitors nightmares....

Cook

Well folks the kitchen is done and I've even cooked in it! I have to say it's all that and more. The appliances are to cool for words.

Now that's out of the way I'm going to complain. Why the hell do we HAVE to hear the Republicans snivel and whine? They are the same LOSERS who drove the entire country to the brink of ruin and a few short years and they honestly think we care about what they have to say? Yes, they have to right to speak but why is it even covered?
